It must be the moon

"Well, I dunno what you were expecting," Ducky shook his head when Jamie told him what happened with Effy. "You broke up with her. You said it was over, didn't you?"

Ducky recalled how it went down months ago when Jamie didn't understand why Effy wouldn't want to go to Seattle with him.

"She has her life here, and now she has a new beau, too," Ducky looked at him blankly.

It wasn't all that long ago, they had a houseful for Thanksgiving. All their kids were here, except Sunny who stayed behind in Chicago. At least, they had room to put Jamie up for his stay.

Sure, he understood the stress Jamie was under. He was an intern and never got any time off, and when he did this was what he had to look forward too. His ex who had moved on.

"I just don't get it," Jamie was sad and a bit distraught as he plopped down on the living room sofa. "I thought, we'd somehow get passed this."

Ducky did his best to console him, but his husband Xander was much better at this kind of thing.

"You're a doctor," Ducky shrugged, "She's a librarian. From what I can tell, she seems really happy with that music teacher."

Jamie looked at him about ready to lose it. "Why didn't you tell me? You could have told me. YOU KNEW?"

"I just here Xander mention it when he goes to the library. They talk. I don't really talk to her." Ducky was busy at the hospital. He was a doctor too.

Jamie swelled a frown. After all Love and War were never fair.
