Merry Christmas!
Finally, Diago was going to make it official. He had the ring. Somehow he'd saved up enough. Well, it didn't hurt that it was on sale at the jewelry place near where he worked. He was going to do it. He wanted to get married by July. Hopefully, sooner.
It was Christmas morning. And they were alone. It felt perfect on a mild winter day. Oh, they could sleep in if they wanted too, but both were up by six.
"I have something to tell you, too," she smiled.
"Oh, yeah? Is it my Christmas present?" He looked at her wide-eyed with hope that she'd think the engagement ring with the tiny diamond would be enough for her Christmas.
"Kind of," Char almost sighed as she went to make coffee and set out the left-over Christmas cookies.
He followed, wondering what it could be. Did she get him that tool set he had his eye on at the mart. Maybe it was something like socks or undies. He wondered how long he would have to wait.
"Oh, about nine months, usually," She shrugged. It didn't click in his head what she was going on about.
Suddenly, he felt faint. Was she sure about this?
"Huh," He couldn't say if it was out of fright or just a giggle, but he just couldn't stop laughing. Was she really serious? He felt a little dizzy. He'd heard this was how the flu started in some people. Diago had to sit down. But he fell into her arms instead.
He never thought they would ever move forward in their lives, and now there would be three. 2020 was looking brand new in so many different ways.
