sooner or later
Amira was happy to see Lynsey.
"It's been forever," she smiled and she wasn't behind the counter at the bakery nor the sandwich shop. Instead, they were hanging out at Amira's drinking coffee and catching up.
"So, who is that cute guy I saw you with?" Amira wanted to know.
Lynsey only grinned but said it was really nobody.
"How could that be?" Amira didn't want to see Lynsey so pessimistic.
"Oh, you know, I'm undatable." Lynsey was even lipped as she picked at the fresh-made berry muffin Amira got out of the oven.
"Stop saying that," Amira didn't want to hear it as she shook her head. "It's not true. You know he likes you. He likes to eat with you."
Amira looked her friend over. She knew they both thought of themselves as too geeks who would never amount to much.
"It's just a phase," Lynsey sighed as she studied the muffin. "He'll wake up and think, I must have been sick or something."
"Stop." Amira looked at her wide-eyed. Yes, she'd thought the same thing about Ste a few months ago. How could he like a girl like her?
Once he told her to stop thinking that way, everything fell in place. She saw him every day now.
"Don't overthink it," Amira told her. "Just see where it goes." Amira smiled.
Lynsey finished off the muffin in no time.
"Is it good?" Amira asked. Lynsey nodded.

Thanks so much for reading and the feedback! Stranger than fiction times we are in these days. I am not sure I want to write about that or not, but I might.
