What's a guy to do?
Ste doubted Macy was listening. After all, he'd came to see his nephew. Still, he was alone with her and her kids. He wished he could talk to her husband instead. He didn't want to come out and say he was having girl troubles.
"It's just, I really love her," he told Macy he never thought of Gabby anymore. It was different with Amira. "She's more than my best friend. I wish I could marry her."
"Then why don't you?" She was putting leftovers of meatloaf and mashed potatoes in fresh containers that he could take home.
"Really? Seriously, you don't have too." Ste couldn't help but stare at the growing number of containers. He had no room for this in his small fridge. He blinked, remembering what he'd just said about Amira. "I dunno if Amira is the marrying kind."
"No, it's you who's not the marrying type," Macy clarified with a sigh.
Maybe she was right, but in his heart, he knew where he belonged. "It's so different with her." He didn't know how to explain it. Perhaps, it wasn't physical enough. But he knew she was frightened of him in that aspect and he didn't want to hurt her.
"I have my mother's wedding band," he nodded. Maybe it would do. Maybe Amira would say yes.
"I think you two should spend more time together," Macy packed the containers in a few recycled bags.
"What? You mean move in together?" Ste winced.
"If it comes to that, yeah, at least til you know its what you both want," Macy was straight lipped as if this was the only course of action to take.
Ste wasn't sure what Amira might do with that suggestion. But at the moment nothing seemed to be moving forward in their so-called relationship. He guess he wouldn't hurt to try.
