Desire

When Rosie found out Robby was at Valentina's she was in a full-blown bad mood. How come everyone was having fun, but her, during this crisis?

"When this is over, Chance can come over all the time," were little comforting words she heard from Ellie.

Sure, they could text. Even get on an app and facetime, but it was definitely not the best of times. Especially, trying to get class credits with teachers who thought you were only doing assignments for them. Even keeping up with art was impossible these days.

Rosie felt as if she were in prison. So..Friday night she made off with her escape plan. She showed up at Chance's.

"What are you doing here?" He looked surprised as he kept telling her to whisper.

"You know, it was going to happen sooner or later," True she didn't exactly sound like her usual self, but she didn't think she sounded desperate either as she plunged into a kiss on his lips, pulling him down to her level.

She really hadn't wanted to kiss him until now, and honestly, she couldn't remember the last time she kissed anyone.

Of course, his breath was minty fresh. He hadn't even gone to bed yet.

"Wait," he didn't exactly push her off, but there was a concern in his voice she didn't think she'd hear. "What if-"

"What?" Her eyes looked up into his straight-lipped face as if he was guarding something.

Chance shook his head no, and took a step back almost hitting his bum on his unmade bed.

"I don't want us to get into trouble," he told her.

"We won't," she winced. Why was he suddenly making this so difficult? She knew what was on his mind.

"You, just like calling the shots," his truth made it sound as if she better turn around and go home.

She started to cross her arms, but went straight in for a clingy hug. She would not budge.

Finally, he gave in, slightly as he hugged her back.

"Look, I know you're scared. We're both scared, but you have to stay home," he kissed the top of her forehead. "I'll walk you home."

He went to grab his jacket. "We'll get through this somehow." He held her hand and led the way.

Rosie said nothing, feeling completely defeated. How could he turn her away?

"There are a lot of reasons," he reminded her that he was older than her and it was best to do the right thing. "Let's not make this complicated." He told her he thought the world of her and he wanted her to go far in her studies and passions.

"But-" She was puzzled, thinking this was the last thing she ever thought he'd say.

"I'm not even sure you're in love with me," Chance told her. "You're not like any other girl I've ever met. And I want to be the best I can be. I want this to be more than something physical."

Rosie felt a little dizzy listening to him. It was cold and they stayed close to each other. Of course, they got to her home too soon.

"I do love you," Chance said as his warm hand touched her cheek. "Don't be mad at me. Stay strong and be that girl I know you are." He smiled then. "Because you are a woman that I adore."

Rosie wasn't sure she deserved his words, but they did kiss as if she knew he really did want to be with her, after all.
