how we live now

Noah wanted this all to be over, but then he wasn't sure if he wanted school to start early, either. After all, he had Dakota around. She was practically family. And it wasn't like they were making out like teenagers, even if she was his girlfriend.

No, they fussed more than anything, but somehow managed to make a tent out of a sheet, play the ukulele her dad got her and of course...watch TV.  Of course, there was a lot of unsettling stuff on TV besides Covid related stuff.

Like the kids they found buried in their step-dad's back yard and a local girl was missing off a sandbar. It was heartbreaking, only he couldn't exactly let it show. After all, Dakota said he was brave, a brave bear. Seriously, though it was hard to keep it together sometimes. Thankfully, Dakota was always planning their next project.

But then he saw Ivy's picture on the news. He remembered her being Simon's friend. He didn't really know her, but Simon did.

He got out his Android and called his Dad Xander about the news. Did he know? Did Simon know?  It was so alarming. Noah felt a little light-headed. Maybe he was hyperventilating. He did his best to stay calm.

Suddenly, he was worried about Dakota. Wondering what had happened. Could it happen here, too?

At the moment, he didn't care if the pool ever opened. He wanted to stay inside. He wanted to stay home with Dakota.
