Ivy did her best to stay steady at the hospital. Micah and Iona rushed her there and thankfully Iona stayed with her. Every second she imagined seeing that friendly face of Lenny's who was no friend of hers. It was hard to relax even in a doctor's care.
Before she knew it she was hooked up to all sorts of machines when they found out about the baby. The cops and the sheriff's department showed up too. She doubted she gave them enough information to go on. She didn't even know Lenny's last name nor where she'd been.
She wanted to dream of Jay in nice clothes, reading, being a smarter person who wasn't a part of this.
Still light headed, even she still couldn't remember how she was freed. When she closed her eyes she was sure this was just a dream and she'd wake up in Lenny's bed.
But she knew it was true, he'd been bitten by a rattle snake and just the thought of it happening right there in the room with her she'd managed with all the fury she had to untie herself and get away.
Maybe Lenny was dead now.
A chill went through her but it didn't shake her. She was certain her luck wasn't that good. But maybe he wanted to kill her with the snake. Although, Ivy didn't want to talk about the snake.
No, she wanted Iona to get a hold of her friend Bom, only her phone number was in Ivy's phone contacts and Ivy didn't know where her phone might be. Probably at Lenny's, but then again maybe not. It was lost just like she was lost.
She closed her her eyes for a moment trying to think of all the phone numbers she knew. She knew it was a 402 area code.
