"So how is it?" Lynsey wanted Amira to spill, but she knew she wouldn't.
"Good," her words sounded like a sweet southern girl on an ordinary day.
"Are we talking about the same thing?" Lynsey winced thinking somebody like Ste would commence on the wedding day and keep her in bed for days. Or so she'd heard some things, but that was long ago when Lyn heard talk of him while she was at the University. His ex did make him sound like a legend.
"I'm not really sure," Amira was busy putting muffins in their place behind the counter at the bakery that she now co-owned with her husband Ste. "Oh, if you have a minute," Amira smiled endearingly. "You should come up and look at our new place."
"New place?" Lynsey smirked wondering what this was about. As it was her life was pretty dull and she liked it that way. There was nothing to report about her significant other, Casey who of course watched her pregnancy grow more than she did.
"Yeah, his brother and some of his friends and even my friend Karrie, flipped Ste's place. I dunno, but it's really great." Amira nodded with a smile and motioned for her to come around and go up the thin stairwell.
Lynsey looked around. There was something nostalgic or was it just historical about the home of the bakery? She felt a bit dizzy once she reached the top of the stairs.
Amira looked back at her. "You need a juice or something?"
So they went into the kitchen and Amira quickly got some drinks and she showed her their little tidy place. It hardly looked lived in at all, with new flooring and lots of shelving at every turn.
"You must love it," Lynsey took a sip of the orange-pineapple juice. She told her it looked very cozy.
Amira smiled with a nod.
"I never really lived in a place quite like this," she confessed. "I've always been in rundown places and a bed that just made me more cranky after I slept in it, but we have it so good. I don't know if I deserve it."
"And Ste is being good to you?"
"Of course," Amira gave her a wince. "Why wouldn't he?"
"Well," Lynsey couldn't help but squint. "He does have kind of a record."
"Record?" Amira winced more as if was she talking about music or a police file?
"It's nothing." Lynsey knew she'd said too much. "I'm glad you guys have found each other. You two seem to bring out the best in each other. And that is a feat of its own."
Good :-)

ReplyDeleteGenial parece que la intriga va en aumente. Gracias por el fragmento. Te mando un beso
ReplyDeleteHmm. So, these two were platonic friends who got married, and now it seems that Amira is about to find out that Ste is some kind of stud? Interesting. Also, I hope Lynsey is okay. Her getting dizzy seems like a sign of bad things to come.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing.
