climb the highest mountain

 "First of all, we should..just wait..you know, until your sister moves out," Jools looked at Mick as if he was just being crazy these days.  They were in their room with the bed still made. They'd had a fine Valentine's Day. Even prime rib and shrimp ..and of course cake. He pressed his lips tight and hugged himself hard. Of course, they'd made out. They knew each other's touches. Wasn't that satisfying enough?

"That might never happen," Mick winced as if Jools was making too many rules. Why couldn't they just DO IT?

Jools cleared his throat. Where did he begin? How could he say it? Sure it was all a lot of give and take, and hell if that wasn't confusing enough. He closed his eyes, trying to imagine how it was with Evan. Had he forgotten?

"What if ..what if you don't like it?" Jools finally sighed. 

"Why wouldn't I?" Mick still looked hurt as if Jools was keeping something from him.

"I dunno." Jools wanted their relationship to go the distance. He nursed his bottom lip. Of course, once upon a time, he was a virgin too. Granted, it just started all together, like a one-night stand with Evan. But it was different with Mick. He was..he didn't want to dare use the word SPECIAL because who knew how Mick might take that.

"I do love you," Jools told him. "I would never want to hurt you." He looked away as if why was Mick making it so impossible. "We should wait when..when we are really alone." Even then he had to wonder if they should go on a camping trip or something. But then there might be bears to worry about. And he really didn't like the woods that much.

"Then, she can just move out tomorrow," Mick told him.

"You can't do that to her," Jools winced as he kept hugging himself. 

Mick only pressed his lips tight. Finally, he said, "What if you get in a car wreck or something? Huh? You're the only person I've ever wanted to be with."

Jools blew a breath. Yes, it was time to make it real.
