"It wasn't exactly the Valentine's day I was hoping for," Vanna sighed. No way could she talk about this to her sister. There was only Misty to turn to. And thank God, she had hot apple cinnamon tea waiting for her.
"What's going on?" Misty looked at her wide-eyed as they sat down at the dining table. Thankfully, Slater wasn't home.
Vanna thought she might cry all over again. Where did she start?
"But..but isn't Koda doing OK at that new job?" She said she knew he was busy. After all, he was still at the old diner too.
Vanna wanted to say, "That's not it." But instead, she did have something to say about that too. "He..he drives my car. All the time." She wrapped her fingers around the mug and took a sip. Still, she couldn't help but frown.
"But, he always gets you to work and we make sure you get a ride home," Misty reminded her that she took her home most days.
"I know. I know, I don't mean to be a brat," Her nose was starting to run as she let a tear slip or two.
"Has..has Koda hurt you?" Misty reached for Vanna's hand, but she let her hand slip away.
"It's..It's not like that." She winced thinking this was hard to explain. She choked on a cough. How could she say it? She breathed in and breathed out. She drank at her hot tea more and even crammed a chocolate caramel heart in her mouth. It wasn't easy to talk about this.
"Vanna? What's wrong?" Misty wanted to know as she kept staring at her.
"I..I came home early..this one time..and..and.."
"Was he with someone?"
Vanna shook her head, no. Finally, she made the effort to speak, "He was in my outfit I wanted to wear for Valentine's Day. He was wearing my clothes!"
"I see."
"Even my underwear!" She was certain she screeched. He hadn't done it since. She didn't think.
"What did he say?" Misty wanted to know.
"Jesus! I don't want to think what he said." Vanna shrugged but mentioned he liked the texture of the lingerie and just did it for fun. She guessed.
"Did..did he say he wanted to be a female or anything?"
The question made Vanna dizzy. Now Vanna was wide-eyed. Could that be possible? How did she not know?
Interesting, Vanna seems very emotional and fragile.
ReplyDeleteFebruary is a very cruel month.

Poor Vanna. Life is complicated. Not every Valentine's day is a happy one. I imagine it must have been shocking for her.

Wow, la clave es no tener altas expectativas en febrero.
ReplyDeleteWow, the key is not to have high expectations in February.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Good advice!
Deletewow... unfortunate for Vanna
ReplyDeleteWow, I didn't see this one coming! And weirdly the first thing I thought was, I hope Koda didn't stretch out Vanna's outfit! But then, I'm very particular about my clothes. :) More seriously, though, I hope that Vanna and Koda can have an honest conversation about this. It reminds me of a recent storyline on Grownish where Jazz starts dating this guy who loves to wear ballgowns. She tried to see past it but couldn't and ended up breaking his heart. So, I'll be waiting to see how this plays out for Vanna and Koda.
ReplyDeleteOnce again, you've curated an amazing collage! And not just because it includes my lovestruck swan. :) The whole vibe is so festive and valentiney!
Oh, and I forgot to mention, I love the Liz Phair lyric in the collage: "Get a load of me, get a load of you." Even if it takes on an entirely different meaning here. :)
ReplyDeleteOoh interesting! I saw your note on my blog about Vanna and Koda so I was happy to see this (I'm catching up :) )
ReplyDeleteThis is life Dear Vanna! You seem very emotional.
