The beginning of a sad ending

 Declan found out his only fan club was made up of Remi and Yuki who so happened to be lesbians. Really 2022 was turning out to be a dud.

Reese was with his long-time friend Adam which Declan didn't know. Sure he still lived with Reese. Where else was he going to go? Not that much had changed. Except Reese was always out with Adam and Declan felt more alone than ever. Honestly, he wasn't one to entertain himself. Of course, Simon changed his phone number so he had no way of getting a hold of him these days.

Chevy was his only hope and that kid played dumb for the most part. Honestly, Declan wanted to get Chevy fired, but he wouldn't. He knew Simon would get a lawyer out of spite and probably take it to court. God, what did Simon even see in Chevy?

"Well, you're not evil," Remi shrugged. "Believe me sleeping with your ex's new boyfriend will get you nowhere. I would know."

Declan looked at her as if that was out of the question. Still, it was nice that she was on his side and he did have someone to hang out with on the weekend. His other so-called friends had bailed due to Covid, he guessed. He hadn't seen them since before Thanksgiving. He wasn't even sure they lived around here anymore. He didn't know what they were doing.

"You just need to focus on your work," Yuki said he should think about local government. Had he ever thought about being on the City Council?

Declan looked at her as if she was crazy too. He didn't want more work. He just wanted an honest to god, boyfriend. Was that too much to ask?

"Maybe, this is just a good time for reflection," Remi suggested. "You know, do you think you need to change? Or maybe you need to do something on your own. Like find your own place and learn something new. Even reading good books can help. And of course, journaling."

"Meanwhile, if we do meet someone we think you might want to meet, you'll be the first to know," Yuki smiled with a shrug. They ordered pizza then. 

Declan looked at them both. He guessed they truly were friends.
