It's not over yet

 

Rafe was so glum, he wouldn't even play THE LAST OF US with Cade.

"What's wrong now?" Cade looked over at his twin brother as if he might be contagious.

"Oh, Valentine's day," he mumbled.

"Well, you got a date to the Valentine's dance," Cade shrugged. It was automatic, wasn't it?

"I just feel...it might be coming to an end," Rafe sighed.

"What? You and Lily?" Cade leaned back on the couch and yawned. "What did she do this time?"

"Nothing, that's just it," Rafe was in a pout as if he was the only one in love.

"Well, you can't keep it exciting every day, you know. I mean, you two are at school together, you work together."

"So do you and Mercer?" Rafe shot him a look as if they might be in the same boat.

"We know when it's a romance and when..you know..keep it cool." Cade wasn't going to look at Rafe. "We talk and argue and you know, makeup."

Rafe only sighed.

"You two need to argue more," Cade told him wishing they'd get back to the game. He'd been so hyped for the TV series that he had to go back to this game.

"No, we don't." Rafe was certain that would not help.

"Fine. Surprise her." He shrugged.

"How?" Rafe wanted to know.

"Do I look like the love guru to you?" Of course, Rafe didn't have an answer to that.

"Look, you could move in with us," Harrison said to his cousin Remi. 

"No, I wouldn't do that," her shift was almost over at the drugstore. She remembered her canister of water and heavy sweater. She would walk herself home even if it was too damn cold.

"But we got an extra bedroom," he said.

"I am not moving in with you and Maisy," she snapped. Besides, he was the one who helped her find the place at the trailer park. Granted, it smelled of old folks and she was still cleaning the grime out of the place, but it was hers, at least for the rest of the winter. She was leasing it for little of nothing due to the past resident's kids needing somebody to stay there while they figured out the will. 

"Well, I can at least take you home," Harrison walked with her and even opened the door to his little economy car. It was too cold to argue with him. Besides, it had been snowing.

"Are any of your friends calling you?" He asked on their drive.

"What friends?" True, it was her own damn fault but she knew whose side Declan was on. And none of her old co-workers were going to check up on her these days. 

"See, you need us. Somebody to talk to," he told her.

"I don't want to talk to anybody," she said she talked enough at those counseling sessions. "I'm fine."

"I wish I believed you," he said as he parked in the vacant spot that could be for her car, but of course, she'd sold it. She couldn't afford the insurance on it, even if she could drive it. Remi remained straight-lipped. If only she had Yuki around. Of course, she knew now she didn't appreciate her enough, after all.
