"Oh, I just can't," Dan said to Ivy's mom about Angel staying at the daycare where she worked. True, Angel would be around his other two siblings, but he was just an infant and Dan wanted him to be around less children. He'd opted for the baby to be taken care of at Valentina's. Her mom would see to him while Val was still home with Foster. Also, it was close to where he worked. It felt like a good beginning to him. He liked the idea of his family helping him instead of Ivy's.
"Maybe, maybe now is the time for you and Ivy to go on a road trip, or something," Dan said as he talked over the phone with Ivy's mother. He knew she should be here with Angel, instead of at Bom and Brian's, but he just hadn't found the time to persuade Ivy.
Instead, he scratched the back of his head in thought. Naturally, he'd missed Valentine's day cue. He was sick then and was amazed Angel hadn't gotten sick, too. He was thinking he'd just cried too much and had made himself sick. And Angel had stayed at Val's during that time too.
He squeezed his eyes shut thinking he should have been a better significant other but maybe he needed mothering too and he had found that with Valentina's mom who just listened to his problems with Ivy..although, he didn't think of himself as Ivy's boyfriend. Sometimes, he just imagined he was a lost cause. Of course, it made him a little nauseous when he saw Zoey with Alfie. Just how did that guy do it?
Dan might as well have been in limbo. If only Jory would come to the rescue, but Dan couldn't ask. The guy just moved into a new home. Dan looked around, here he was in the apartment he'd had way before Ivy was around. He sighed. Maybe he needed to declutter the place. Although, he was pretty good at keeping the clutter at bay. Yet, after Ivy moved in, that slowly stopped.
Of course, he was depressed, too. It was like they made the most of being depressed together. Why couldn't they get through this too?
Her mother came back with his suggestion being a no-go about a girl's trip with Ivy. "We don't do things like that," she sounded as if she was laughing about it, but he thought she might be crying. Yes, they did need to make up, as well, but Dan was certain Ivy's mom didn't think that was possible.
"I'll talk to her," Dan said with a nod, but he doubted Ivy would ever listen to him. Especially, when it came to talking about her mother. She was very mute on the subject. He'd tried. He'd told her she needed to appreciate her more. Some day she'd regret being this way, but it had only made her angry. It all felt like a dead end.
It's so sad about Ivy. Not wanting to take a trip with her mom isn't a good sign, and even the cluttered apartment seems to symbolize something darker. I hope she finds her way out of this.
ReplyDeleteThe part where Dan wonders how "that guy" Alfie keeps meeting women is funny. Oh, Alfie!
The little llama in the collage is so cute! π¦ππ¦ππ¦ππ¦π

It doesn't seem like Ivy wants anything to do with her mother. Very sad.

I am really enjoying following your chapters. This one today was perfect, because when you miss an opportunity, the only place to cry is in bed, where only the pillow will understand us.
