All she got was him standing there with his arms open. Ivy guessed she would take it. On the one hand, it was like she was right back where she started, and yet she couldn't spend another minute at Bom and Brian's even if Keanu (her son with Brian) was there.
Dan hugged her as if he'd never let her go, again. When he started to sob, she was relieved. She was happy that he'd missed her. Oh, she would try to do better. Although, it would be challenging, then again, most mountains weren't climbed in a day.
Ivy lost her job. She couldn't work from home anymore.
"But you could take an online class or two," Dan mentioned later when they were home alone. Angel was at his sister's. They were planning their life out, sitting on the sofa cuddling. She guessed she could do that. Although, she didn't know what she could really do.
"You liked your job," he reminded her. She squinted back. She hated to tell him that she didn't. But it was a job and it paid part-time.
"There's someone looking for a receptionist at this new doctor's office." Dan shrugged. "And..and it's full-time."
Maybe she'd put off those online classes yet. She pressed her lips tight.
"You don't have to do it," he said.
"No, I want to. I do." Ivy was afraid she might fall apart if she wasn't working, but there was the baby. "I just wish..I wish I could be.." she couldn't even say Mommie. "I don't know if I can love," she nursed her bottom lip. "I can love Angel, like you do." That's when she told him she hated his name. "I don't like it at all."
"Is changing his name going to make you love him more?" Dan wanted to know. She only hugged herself. She doubted it. And she knew he was not going to change Angel's name. After all, it was his adopted father's name.
Dan, however, did change the subject. "If you want that job, maybe we should go out and find you a new wardrobe." Now was the time to do it.
Ivy smiled then. She loved the idea of new clothes.
my friend works from home very often. And this is the best job ever, that she does not go to the office
ReplyDeleteIt is great if you can keep working from home. Unfortunately, here many of those jobs are coming to an end.

ReplyDeleteSiempre es genial ropa nueva. Genial capítulo Te mando un beso.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad Ivy finally opened up! It's heartbreaking that she doesn't think she can love Angel like Dan does. And it's sad that she lost her job. Dan's idea that she apply for the receptionist job is a good one. And, of course, I adore the last lines: "Ivy smiled then. She loved the idea of new clothes." I know that new clothes don't solve everything, but I know from experience that they can help! 👗🩱🩳👖👚👕

Complicated, but yeah a new wardrobe is good
ReplyDelete"I don't know if I can love," she nursed her bottom lip"....oh, reading this just made me so sad:( Poor Ivy...I do hope things change for her sake, and for Angel's soon.
ReplyDeletePS I think that's so cool you make doll clothes, Ellie. When you said your BTS doll clothes fit Barbie, that made me LOL:)
We all seek to work on what we like, the same way we choose friends and sincere relationships.
