The day finally arrived. Lynsey had a baby girl. Yes, it was a happy occasion and even Jory and Rachel were there for the big event. So were Poppy, Joon and Niah. Then Casey showed up with Ethan and Katie (Casey's new girlfriend) She couldn't ask for a better celebration.
They named her Daisy. Charles thought it was appropriate since her big sister's name was Poppy. Of course, Lynsey said she always wanted a Daisy. It was her idea anyway to name her Daisy. She wouldn't dare think about her days with Casey now. And he seemed to be in a better place and she was glad he was with Katie. Although, it was still hard for her to let their son stay with him in that tiny house that was once where Chance and Rosie lived. But she didn't have long to think about it because Rosie and Chance arrived with gifts.
Oh, she knew it was all going to turn out all right. She knew Poppy was the best not making a big deal over her Aunt who was actually her mother. Honestly, she felt as if this was her family even her ex and his brother made such wonderful uncles. She couldn't have asked for more.
"But your mom and dad, why aren't they here?" Jory wanted to know. She knew he wanted to say adopted, but he didn't. After all, he was her real family. She gave him a hug, happy he was here.
"Oh, I think they're in Japan now," Lynsey let a white lie slip. She thought her adopted sister (their biological daughter) still lived there. Lynsey hadn't talked to them in ages. They had shunned her since she moved in with Casey and she was sure they didn't want to know what she was up to now. After all, she'd been meant to stay home, live the rest of her life in the basement, and care for her aging parents. She'd been told most of her life that she was damaged from being born with alcohol syndrome and would never be able to live on her own.
Maybe they were right. Maybe she couldn't live on her own. But it didn't feel that way with those surrounding her.
Boone knew they surprised Oakley. He'd gotten tickets for the Mother's Day concert and of course, he took his mom. Along the way, Steve and Zoey brought their Dad. Really, the whole family cheered Oakely on and Phil with Lexi was just an added bonus. And of course, Oakley was up to the challenge. After all, black was her color and she was feisty on the cello.
It was a lovely Mother's Day afternoon. He knew how proud their mother was of her. Of course, they brought her roses and they waited in the wing afterward to congratulate her. Except, Oakley wasn't alone. She was with someone else in the orchestra. He smiled and touched her hair as if he might be fond of her.
Boone's mother asked him who he was. "I really don't know?" Boone was sure he was just another of Oakley's music friends. Of course, they all crowded around Oakley full of good wishes. She looked a bit overwhelmed and that guy put his arm around her as if he was proud of her too.
He wasted no time introducing himself. He was Finnigan but said to call him Finn and he admitted he was sweet on this girl here.
Boone was in total shock. How could his sister keep this hidden from him? Of course, she let a sheepish grin slip. Maybe it was really true. At least they got her talked into the reservation that they had made, to have dinner together.
"Do you have room for one more?" Finn asked and their mother replied. "Of course we do."
Boone smiled like an idiot and looked to Alfie, "Best Mother's Day ever!"
Alfie nodded. Boone started to feel now he really was a part of this family.
One more good chapter.

ReplyDeletePS OMG! I'm so sorry to hear about your family member having the car stolen! You know what? A few days ago, our neighbour's aunt visiting from the US just got her car stolen as well! She was parked on the street, and when she woke up, it was gone:( So scary nowadays:(
Happy mother's day π
ReplyDeleteHola!, una historia muy bonita, me gusto mucho. Besos
ReplyDeleteWhat a very happy Mother's Day! I love that Lynsey and her new little one are surrounded by family and friends -- as you say in those last wonderful lines, a far cry from the solitary cellar dweller she was expected to be. And it was such a beautiful day for Oakley too! It's so cool to hear that she's "feisty" on the cello and that Finn joined her family for dinner. It's also funny how Boone is bemused by it all! πΈππΉπ·π»πΈππΉπ·π»πΈππΉπ·π»πΈππΉπ·π»
