Oakley did her best to ignore Phil in the hallway at work. She had enough on her plate (so to speak) with her new roommate situation. She didn't want that to get back to Boone who would call their mother about it and then.... She didn't want to think about that.
Oakley laid sleepless nights on that tiny couch in the livingroom alone, thinking Alfie would come and save the day. Why did she think that way? She knew Zoey would be with him since he didn't do anything alone anymore.
It felt as if she'd fallen down the rabbit hole. Of course, there was music practice every night, then rehearsals and the big Mother's Day Night was here. Even now she could hardly concentrate on work and Dory was always telling her what she needed to do at the music hall. She didn't know why she let him have the authority.
However, on the other hand, Finn was always there, ever so easygoing on his keyboard. Asking if she was really getting enough rest. He told her she looked like shit. "I know it's all my fault," he'd said about the Dory matter. "He just doesn't have the money so I said we needed another roommate. I mean, I couldn't turn him away since he really is a serious musician."
Oakley had her doubts about that. He didn't tutor that many students in violin. Of course, he was cranky. She really didn't know if she could put up with his moody moments. He was such a messy person too. If only she could get this sorted.
Of course, Finn was worried she was getting too thin. "You walk everywhere. No, I take that back, you run everywhere." He stocked up on protein shakes and made sure she had at least one with her, every day because he said she would forget to eat. He also reminded her she had a car, but she left it in the parking garage because she was afraid she might never find another parking spot and she wanted to save on gas.
"But, everything is nearby," she sighed about the matter, thinking she might as well sleepwalk through the day.
"And so am I," he told her she could always stay in his room.
Insomnia is bad enough, even worse if you have to stay on an uncomfortable couch.
ReplyDeleteSleepwalkers are at least sleeping, even if they walk around the house. ㋚

ReplyDeletePoor Oakley
ReplyDeleteSo, what do we have here? Oakley ignores Phil, she thinks of Alfie as the one who could save her day. She could hardly sleep or concentrate on her work. Dory's telling her what to do...but Finn is her savior, taking care of her.
ReplyDeleteThis chapter is interesting.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice weekend.
Sometimes people think too much and that can complicate things. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI guess we know why Oakley is ignoring poor Phil now! She has a lot on her mind. Finn's proposal there at the end is interesting. Putting the moves on her, or just genuinely offering t ohelp?
ReplyDeleteUy las cosas se complica te mando un beso.
ReplyDeleteOakley has complicated feeling issues:)
ReplyDeleteLovely chapter, thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteOh poor Oakley I hope she can do better
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely day!
ReplyDeleteOh, Oakley, my favorite starving artist! But all cuteness aside, her tale is indeed a sad one. That's why your ending (as always!) packs such a punch:
ReplyDelete"But, everything is nearby," she sighed about the matter, thinking she might as well sleepwalk through the day.
"And so am I," he told her she could always stay in his room.
Awwww! No doubt about it, I'm a fan of Finn! I'm excited to see what happens next for these two . . . π»πΊπΈπ·πͺπ΅π»πΊπΈπ·πͺπ΅
