What's there to know

"You just gotta stop," Mercer frowned at Brick. "I trust her." He said about the Harley matter.

"Oh, you just don't understand," Brick looked like he'd been to hell and back. All those sleepless nights were doing nothing for him at the cart corral in the grocery store parking lot.

"And why is that?" Mercer shot him a look. He knew Brick would never get him and Cade. It was like that wasn't the real deal, just a passing phase.

Of course, Brick told him they were not on the same page. "I'm worried about her health." He looked at Mercer blankly. "I'm sure Cade worries about you too. Wondering if..if you're really taking care of yourself."

Mercer shrugged. OK, so maybe he was wrong about Brick, "Let's get an iced coffee." It was the least he could do and Scooters was just right across the parking lot. Oh, the heat and humidity was on and Mercer felt he might melt on the pavement.

"I don't trust KC," Brick then admitted once they got something cold to drink, although, they went for the summer prickly-pare lemonade instead. After all, it was quite refreshing and there was a place they could sit in the air conditioning to enjoy their drink.

"Why?" Mercer said he'd never known KC to date anyone. "Music is his first love."

"Well, maybe he's gonna wake up one day and realize, hey there's this chick here and I kind of like her," Brick was angry, but he sipped on his cold drink like he needed to let off some steam before he dropped.

"Just don't go there," Mercer decided to change the subject. "Looks like Lily's found the one."

"What?" Brick drew a blank.

Mercer gritted a smile. He knew he'd chosen the wrong topic (bringing up Brick's first love). He sighed. "Oh, Lily and that guy from the bakery. They seem to not even care what Rafe thinks."

"Does he even think?" Brick scowled as if he didn't care, but Mercer knew he did.

"I guess..um..." Mercer needed to think about what to say. "Well, you know Cade still cares about Lily. Maybe it's because he cares about her grandmother. He wants to believe Boone is a nice guy, but you know, he's not somebody we all know."

Brick nodded.

"You think, Cade had it bad for Lily, or something?" Brick questioned.

Mercer smiled and shook his head, no. "He was just worried about Rafe, you know. He didn't want him to get hurt."

"Get hurt? How is that possible?" Brick now laughed. "He's at the top of his game and then there is Kimmy."

"Kimmy?" Mercer nodded. "What's she like?"

"Nothing like Harley," Brick held on to the cold drink in thought. "Kimmy seems to know exactly what she wants. Evidently, that's Rafe." He sipped his drink and then said, "Cade should be worried about her. She's like a hurricane. If anybody can mess with Rafe, it's Kimmy."

  1. Sounds like Kimmy would be a challenge for Rafe.

  3. Interesting. I like how they're comparing notes on everyone. And Kimmy is sounding interesting! I might have to go back and read up on her and rafe. I wonder if Brick will be right about KC, or if he'll turn out t obe a good one.

    Nice collage

  5. Mercey and Brick have been discussing about Harley, Cade, Lily, Rafe - on a cold drink. Conclusion - Rafe should beware of Kimmy (who's like a hurricane).

  6. Oh, those cart corral confessionals! I don't blame Brick about being worried about Harley and KC -- there's definitely something brewing there. Also, it's interesting that Mercer refers to Boone as "someone they don't know" in regard to his relationship to Lily. He seems so harmless to me! Either way, I always a enjoy a good installment of boys talking about girls. 💖💖💖

Thanks so much for including my rainbow sweater in the collage! I got a kick out of that in the middle of summer. 😁🌈
