Hush, you can find your stars

Dory felt as if his shell had been cracked. Cedric slept over the night of the dinner party and it kept happening.

"Oh shit," he covered his lips, realizing this had not ended. Cedric was still here and somehow this new self of Dory's had a potty mouth too. He slipped away to get ready for work.

"What's happened to me?" Of course, he should have asked Chili this well over a week ago, but he had waited until just before opening in the darkness of morning at the coffee shop.

"Oh, that maybe you are human after all," Chili giggled slyly and went to get him some freshly brewed coffee.

Dory only sighed. Really, he felt dazed and confused. He touched the back of his neck and felt so unsure of himself for the first time.

"Don't think too hard now," she told him. "You have to make the most of it."

"Are you sure?"  He looked at her out of the corner of his eye as he counted the money in the til and started the paper report.

"Try not to get back to where you were," she said. "It wouldn't do you any good now."

Dory sighed. Then he winced hard. "Damn, I'm supposed to start violin lessons with that girl."

"Stan's daughter?"

"It seemed her mother wanted her to have music lessons more than she did. Really, I think she might be up to no good." He shook his head. He explained he'd probably have to go to her house for the lessons since he didn't have a soundproof room available.

"Stan's daughter Amy?"

"She has a mother, you know."

Dory looked back at Chili straight-lipped.

"Well, you'll get paid," Chili assured him.

"But what I hate the most is giving lessons to someone who doesn't even respect me. I could see it in her eyes, she's just using me. She hates her mother, I just know it." Dory went on to say even if he wished he'd kept it to himself. But like Cedric told him it was good to always speak his mind.

  1. At least Dory knows and is aware of it. It would be hard to teach someone wh isn't into it. I have a feeling this might go interesting...

  4. There is always something that breaks, that tears and does not cause damage, but reveals new possibilities. We need to be attentive and know how to observe.

  6. "Try not to get back to where you were," she said. "It wouldn't do you any good now."...I can't remember Dory's back story and his past, but this advice sounds good. And I totally understand not wanting to teach someone who's not really interested! Poor Dory, but like Chili said, at least he'll get paid.
And thanks for the CNY greeting, Ellie:) That's awesome that your library had dance performances in the past! I hope you have it again this year:)
    Have a great week!

  7. Nothing should be done forcefully or against your will. Or force others to do it...

  8. Hello!
I once gave maths lessons to a boy who wasn't interested in learning at all, and I can tell you from my experience that the hour I spent with him was painful! I even regretted getting paid for it afterwards! I wish you a lovely week, we're having an early spring here, it's been hot today!!!

  10. Hooray for Dory and Cedric! I was wondering how long that would take. Chili is so right in telling Dory not to overthink it. As for the violin lessons, that's a sticky wicket. But at least Dory knows what he's getting into -- and that Cedric is right when he says to speak his mind. πŸ’–πŸŽ»πŸ’–πŸŽ»πŸ’–πŸŽ»
